The Sports Department of the Mayor’s Office of Panama organized a training day for sports instructors, in order to provide them with tools to care for people, children and girls with disabilities.
The series of talks was organized with the support of the Ann Sullivan Center Panama, an activist organization in inclusion and promoter of social and structural changes for equity in the inclusive treatment of people with disabilities.
Eduardo Frías, head of the Inclusive Sports section at the Mayor’s Office, explained that the activity marks the beginning of a series of actions aimed at achieving the “formalization of an inclusive agenda in the municipal administration.”
Frías was satisfied with the participation achieved in the event: “We have brought together different actors related to sport and disability, so that this activity is considered as a reference, a starting point to achieve truly inclusive care.”
Among the participants who attended the Gladys Vidal Theater at the Mayor’s Office, there were sports instructors from the municipal facilities, the National Sports Institute (Pandeportes), the Ministry of Education and other organizations.
