Juan Dolio, San Pedro de Macorís. – The president of the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP), Eduardo Hidalgo, swore in this Tuesday the National Electoral Commission that will lead the electoral process of the union scheduled for October 9 of this year.
According to a press release, the members of the electoral body are Gilberto Almonte, who presides; Pedro Bidó, First Vice President; Máximo de la Cruz, Second Vice President; Wanda Sabino González, Secretary.
Likewise, Clecencio Reyes, member A; Senate of the Cruz, member B; and Maria Teresa Cabrera, member C.
The election took place within the framework of the Ninth National Plenary of Leaders, who unanimously approved the decision presented by the National Executive Committee to the highest body held in a hotel in this town.
Hidalgo, when swearing in the Commission, urged them to “conduct a transparent and clear process adhering to the principles of the ADP and the Statutes in the election of those who will decide the union as of October 9, 2024, if not, may God and the teaching profession take it into account.”
Almonte expressed his gratitude for his selection and promised to work with the other members of the electoral body on institutional matters and based on the Statutes and its Electoral Regulations.
“We are committed to continue fighting alongside the ADP to maintain the democracy and institutionality that this institution has maintained during its 54 years of existence,” Almonte added.
It is recalled that for the purposes of administering the ADP electoral process, electoral commissions are elected at the national, municipal and zonal levels, which are responsible for directing the process throughout the national territory, according to their Statutes.
Their selection takes place three months before the scheduling of the electoral contest that will elect their authorities for three years.
