The start of the long-awaited work on the project “Improvement and expansion of the drinking water and sewage service for the human settlements of Sullana, Bellavista, Marcavelica and Querecotillo” was announced for next August 23, with an investment of more than 153 million soles, as announced by the Minister of Housing, Construction and Sanitation, Hania Pérez de Cuéllar, who was at the Sullana province.
Meanwhile, the mayor of Sullana, Eng. Marlem Mogollón Meca, together with his municipal council, Civil Society and the Committee for the Development of the Province of Sullana, were optimistic about this announcement.

“We finally have something concrete. We still have the project for the Drinking Water Treatment Plant and to find a solution for the WWTP. Madam Minister, we are sure that with your support we will be able to attend to these great projects in Sullana,” said Mayor Mogollón Meca, during the swearing-in ceremony of the Participatory Monitoring Committees of Works (COMIPO), in the Municipality of Sullana, where he took the opportunity to include in his request the satellite reservoirs of Samán and Chipillico; in addition to sanitation projects for the rural area.
Meanwhile, Minister Hania Pérez de Cuéllar announced that the contract for the preparation of the work balance file for the Sullana WWTP project, which is 70% complete, would be signed in the first week of August. According to the MVCS schedule, the preparation of said file would be completed on November 14 and the remaining components of the long-awaited project would be completed in 2025.
Another key project that is in the hands of the Ministry of Housing is the Potable Water Treatment Plant, with an investment of 241 million soles and will benefit Sullana, Querecotillo, Salitral and Marcavelica. In this regard, Pérez de Cuéllar assured that the contract will be awarded on August 22 of this year and the start of work is projected for the month of November.
