Santo Domingo.- Since early Tuesday morning, cloudy skies and scattered showers have been observed in some localities of the country, due to a trough at various levels of the troposphere and the effects of the diurnal cycle.
The report was offered by the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) in its weather forecast for today, highlighting that, after midday, said rainfall could increase and spread to other provinces of the country.
“Today, showers with thunderstorms will occur in San Pedro de Macorís, San Cristóbal, Duarte, Espaillat, Monseñor Nouel, Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez caused by a trough. Santo Domingo and the National District will be cloudy with showers and thunderstorms,” he detailed on his X account.
In this regard, he warned that, due to the rains expected in the next 12 to 24 hours, Meteorological Alerts remain in effect, in view of probable urban flooding, as well as possible overflowing of streams.
These alerts were issued for Greater Santo Domingo, Monte Plata, San Cristóbal and Monseñor Nouel.

“Due to the summer season, temperatures remain hot; for this reason, INDOMET maintains its recommendation to the population to drink enough liquids, wear light, light-colored clothing and avoid exposure to sunlight without proper protection,” he added.
