Castillo: Far-right violates country's electoral regulations

The Vice Minister of Anti-Blockade Policies, William Castillo, stated that a whole media and political plot by the extreme right is being set up from abroad, with the aim of ignoring the results that the National Electoral Council (CNE) will issue on July 28, as part of destabilizing actions against the country.

Castillo warned that one of the strategies used by this extremist sector is the “self-invited” international observers, who, violating the regulations of the electoral body, want to come to the country with the purpose of sabotaging the electoral process, as they have publicly confessed.

The vice-minister explained that Venezuelan electoral legislation has a set of regulations to regulate the presence of foreigners who come to the electoral processes. However, the legislation does not include the figure of the observer, as in other countries, “who are a kind of auditors of the electoral processes,” but there is the figure of observers or companions who have different functions.

“A companion is a person who can be invited by a political organization to see how the process is developing. The observer has established functions, can participate in audits of the process, is the closest thing to an observer, but not with the weight that observers have in other elections around the world,” he added.

He said that this is part of a large disinformation operation of the electoral process in Venezuela, highlighting the complaint made by the coordinator of the Comando Venezuela Nuestra, Jorge Rodríguez, about the setting up of a supposed computing center in the United States to broadcast information to the world.
