Daniel Maurate, Minister of Labor, said this Monday that the The increase in the Minimum Vital Remuneration, or minimum wage, will be evaluated after the installation of the National Labor Council, which brings together representatives of employers’ unions and workers’ unions.
“The increase in the Minimum Vital Remuneration (RMV) has a procedure, which basically takes place in the National Labor Councilwhere agreement and consensus must be reached, because this discussion is taking place within the said council,” he said.

He added: “What I can announce is that we will try first that the National Labor Council “When the meeting is held, we will call it. Apparently there is a good disposition on the part of the representatives of employers and workers to attend and participate in the meeting.”
Daniel Maurate reiterated that the increase in the minimum wage must be discussed in a technical manner in the National Labor Council so as not to affect micro and small businesses, basically.
“As I have already pointed out, most of the minimum wage is in micro and small businesses, because large and medium-sized businesses pay more than the Minimum Living Wage. So if we do not make a reasonable and technical adjustment, we could have unfavorable consequences for formality,” he said.
The minister announced that they will soon be calling for a meeting of the National Labor Council, for which they are coordinating with representatives of employers and workers.
“The call will probably be before July 28, but the installation of the National Labor Council would be afterward. We are also putting on the agenda the strengthening of the institutionality of the council,” he said.
