On Monday afternoon, the 22nd, President Nicolás Maduro threatened the Televisora del Táchira (TRT) for not broadcasting one of his campaign events, and linked it to alleged paramilitary groups.
During an activity for his candidacy in the city of San Cristóbal, Maduro said that TRT “does not want to show the truth” and directly accused them of wanting “Táchira to become paramilitarized again.”
“Does TRT hate the people? Do they want a government of paramilitaries? Do they support the extreme right wing paramilitaries? I don’t want to believe that about TRT,” Maduro insisted in his speech against the regional media outlet, founded in July 1989.

He pointed out that both the media and the citizens are “the first beneficiaries of our winning peace and security, and that Táchira has the greatest security it has ever had since the time of Marcos Pérez Jiménez. They are the ones who live comfortably, in peace, who are no longer kidnapped or charged taxes. Or am I lying?”
