Confiep and chambers of commerce present proposals to boost economy

Confiep, together with its 23 associated business associations and regional chambers of commerce, developed more than 80 proposals in 16 key sectors to promote the closing of gaps, increase competitiveness, fight insecurity, generate formal employment and promote political reform.

The president of Confiep, Alfonso Bustamante Canny, stated that the objective of the proposals is to contribute to achieving a viable country. That is, one with adequate infrastructure, respect for the rules, citizens who progress and live without fear, decent jobs, a larger middle class, investments, more efficient public management and quality and timely basic services.

“The private sector has once again demonstrated its willingness to contribute to the construction of public policies that improve the quality of life of the population,” said Bustamante Canny.

Proposals

Health: The aim is to strengthen EsSalud’s governance by empowering the board of directors and management to ensure effective expenditure execution. The aim is to offer quality and timely services to insured persons.

Living place: To close the housing deficit gap, it is suggested to increase the funds allocated to social housing and expand the housing supply. These measures seek to ensure the sustainability of the Family Housing Bonus (BFH) and Good Payer Bonus (BBP) subsidies.

Modernization of the State: The reorganization and declaration of emergency of Corpac is being considered, evaluating the possibility of granting its management, which includes air navigation services, to private companies with proven experience.

Political reform: It is proposed to ensure the suitability of electoral candidates in the upcoming elections and to monitor the resources that finance political campaigns. It is also recommended to regulate the private financing of political parties.

Foreign Trade and Tourism: It is suggested that the Third Group of Regional Airports be granted a concession to improve efficiency, connectivity and opportunities for decentralized development, as well as to boost the recovery of tourism.

Agriculture: The aim is to increase the competitiveness of the agricultural sector by approving a new agricultural law, aligned with the needs of the productive sector and long-term legal security.

Mining: The aim is to optimise sectoral mining procedures and environmental impact assessments, as well as to reduce the requirements and permits necessary for the exploration, exploitation, processing and expansion of mining activities.

Hydrocarbons: The aim is to promote projects to expand the use of natural gas in key regions such as Cusco, Huancavelica, Junín, Ucayali, Ayacucho, Apurímac, Arequipa and Puno.

Fishing: The aim is to strengthen public management and incentives to develop aquaculture, as well as to increase investment in research, development and innovation in the sector.

Citizen security: It is recommended to accelerate the implementation of flagrancy centers, through the Contracting Law or the Work for Taxes mechanism, to administer justice in an agile and efficient manner, decongesting the judicial system and reducing costs for the State.

Investment Climate: It is suggested that the tendering and execution of key projects such as access to Jorge Chávez Airport, Chinchero Airport and the Chancay megaport be accelerated.
