One person died and 19 were injured when a truck carrying workers for the maintenance of green areas overturned on the Central Regional Highway, specifically at kilometer 91, located near the town of San Mateo, Bolívar municipality, in the Caracas-Maracay direction.
The vehicle with the initials of the Seniat suffered the fatal accident at around 9:00 am on Monday, allegedly after presenting a mechanical failure, which caused it to go off the road and subsequently roll over to the right side of the ARC, leaving the group of 20 workers with severe injuries.
According to witnesses, several workers managed to jump out of the truck, while another was trapped inside the vehicle.
The fatal victim of the accident responded to the name of Isaias Vegas Godoy (76), who was originally from the Paz Castillo municipality, Santa Lucia parish of Miranda state.
Officials from the Bolivarian National Police (PNB), assigned to the Land Traffic Division, Civil Protection, Firefighters from the state of Aragua and the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB), assigned to Road Safety of the ARC and volunteers from the Red Cross, were present at the scene, who removed the accident and were in charge of transporting the injured to the Central Hospital of Maracay, aboard 10 pre-hospital units.
