The National Supplementary Health Agency (ANS) reported this Monday (22) that health plans performed 1.9 billion medical procedures in 2023. According to the agency, the number represents an increase of 7.4% compared to the procedures performed in 2022, when 1.8 billion consultations, exams and surgeries were registered throughout the country.
According to the survey, the procedures most sought after by patients were medical consultations, which reached 275.3 million last year. Next are dental procedures (196.2 million) and hospitalizations (9.2 million).
79.9 million therapies were carried out by physiotherapists, speech therapists and psychologists, a number 19.7% higher than in 2022. The number of exams recorded was 1.1 billion.
The data is part of the Supplementary Health Care Mapa survey that takes into account the information provided to ANS by operators. The map is one of the variables used to justify the annual adjustment of plans.
