Oscar Villegas began working with the Bolivian under-16 team

Oscar Villegas put first gear and began his work with the Bolivian under-16 team in the city of Santa Cruz. On Friday, the Cochabamba native was named coach of the senior team and the youth categories by the Bolivian Football Federation (FBF), and this Monday he directed his first practice.

Villegas continues the work that lThe U-16 team was fulfilling its duty with Pablo Escobar, with a view to the South American Championship that will take place in our country from August 28 to September 14 of this year.

This championship was to be held last year. with the under-15 category, but when it was postponed to this year it changed to under-16 and will be played specifically in Montero and Santa Cruz de la Sierra.

At training this Monday, Oscar Villegas was assisted by Gabriel Ramirez, who managed teams from the Asociación Cruceña de Fútbol (ACF) and Cristian ‘Tutu’ Farah, who was in charge of Real Santa Cruz until January and April of this year.

The ten countries of the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) will participate in the South American Under-16 Championship, which willThey were divided into two groups, each of five teams. The top two in each series will qualify for the semi-finals and the winners of that stage will go for the title.

Bolivia will host this championship for the fourth time, after the 2005, 2009 and 2013 editions.

However, during the realization of the South American, Villegas will have to prepare the senior team that must resume competition in the Qualifiers to the 2026 World Cup, because on September 5, La Verde will receive a visit from Venezuela and five days later they will be visiting Chile.

In October, the national team will host Colombia, which comes from being runner-up in the Copa América, that match will be played on the 10th, while on the 15th they will be away against Argentina, world and Copa América champion.

The last two games of the Verde this year will be in November, the 14th against Ecuador away from home and the 19th at home against ParaguayOh.
