The letter in which he announced his decision is eloquent: It has been a great honor to serve you as president. But I believe that in the best interest of my party and the country, I have decided to abandon my re-election campaign and concentrate on the tasks that concern my office. He concluded by expressing his support for Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate.
