Volleyball: Cuban men's team falls to the US

The Cuban men’s team lost 2-3 to the United States in the semi-final of the XVII Pan American Cup for senior volleyball being held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The Cubans, undefeated until that moment, offered resistance this Saturday to the Americans, who in the end achieved victory 25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 24-26 and 11-15) after one hour and 54 minutes on the court.

For Cuba, Bryan Camino stood out with 18 points, 14 in attack, two in blocking and two in service, followed by Carlos Yoandrys Charles (17/17-0-0), Víctor Ramón Andreu (13/11-1-1) and Thiago Suárez (12/9-3-0).

American Gabriel Garcia (25/22-1-2) was the top scorer, supported by Daniel Wetter (14/8-6-0) and Ethan Champlin (13/1-0-3).

The Puerto Ricans will fight for the bronze medal with the Cubans after losing 1-3 (16-25, 22-25, 23-25 ​​and 25-21) against Canada in the other match of the semifinal phase.

The United States and Canada will compete for the title of the event today, Sunday. Colombia and the Dominican Republic will compete for fifth place.

The Pan American Cup is part of the qualification for the 2025 North, Central America and Caribbean Continental Championship (Norceca), the Pan American Cup in 2025 and the 2027 Pan American Games.
