The team representing Mexico at the 65th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) achieved excellent results: 18-year-old Rogelio Guerrero Reyes won a gold medal. It is the sixth gold medal for the country in the history of national participation in this competition, considered the most important in the world in its field. In addition, Rogelio, originally from Aguascalientes, is the first Mexican to win two golds. Last year he won this award in Japan.
Mexico also won two silver medals thanks to the performances of Takumi Higashida Martinez and Hector Juan Villareal Corona, both from Mexico City, while Jose Andres Zamora Moncada, from San Luis Potosi, and Mateo Ivan Latapi Acosta, from the capital, won bronze medals. Emiliano Hernandez Barranco, also from Mexico City, received an honorable mention.
The competition, which involves pre-university students, was held in person in Bath, United Kingdom. 609 math lovers from 108 countries competed, Not only to fight for honor, but also to contribute to an international community beyond borders, religions and politics.

Mexico also placed second in Latin America and achieved 24th place in the overall medal table. The awards ceremony will take place today.
