Santo Domingo.-The temperatures will begin to decrease starting this Sunday rains with thunderstorms and gusts of wind that affected 19 provinces yesterday.
The rains are the result of a trough and a tropical wave, according to the National Institute of Meteorology (Indomet).
He added that on Sunday there will be little rain and the heat of the season will return.

In its weather report, Indomet explained that the rains affected Greater Santo Domingo, La Altagracia, Monte Plata, San Cristobal, San Jose de Ocoa, Monsignor Nouel, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, Sanchez Ramirez, Duarte, La Vega, Samana, Maria Trinidad Sanchez, San Juan, Elias Pine, Espaillat, Puerto Plata, Dajabon and Montecristi.
He said the showers are due to the moisture left behind by the passage of the tropical wave plus the incidence of the trough in the upper levels of the troposphere.
“At the end of the afternoon and during the night, these precipitations are expected to begin to decrease, both in intensity and frequency,” says the Indomet report.
Alert levels
He said that meteorological alert levels remain in place in view of possible flooding of rivers, streams and ravines, urban flooding, as well as possible landslides.
According to Indomet, an anticyclonic system is expected to form at all levels of the troposphere this Sunday, which will bring a mass of air with a lower humidity content, so rainfall will be scarce.
“We continue to recommend that the population drink enough fluids, wear light, light-colored clothing, and avoid exposure to sunlight without proper protection between the hours of 11:00 am and 4:00 pm,” recommends Indomet, which also reported that we will experience the incursion of dust particles from the Sahara.
