Among the measures that the Government is taking to reduce the effects of inflation, especially in food, the government is advancing in the elimination of tariffs for 179 imported products that are key to agricultural production and other sectors.

The 179 consolidated subheadings that make up the list are cataloged in 29 groups of inputs, including fertilizers and pesticides; supplies for beverages, clothing and footwear; fruit and nut seeds and bulbs; inputs for food processing and bakery; stationery supplies; and some chemical and metal products used in the production of agricultural and manufactured products.
This arose as a recommendation of the Committee on Tariff, Customs and Foreign Trade Affairs, (Triple A) to reduce to zero, and for 6 months, the tariff for 176 subheadings that have a tariff of 5%, 10% and 15%; and 5% for another 3 products that are nationally produced and that today have a tariff of 5, 10 and 15%.

That is why we celebrate that the Triple A Committee has recommended reducing tariffs for 179 products”, highlighted the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, María Ximena Lombana.
This determination is part of the Technical Plan announced by the Government at the beginning of the month, with which it seeks to facilitate the access to inputs for production and is being reviewed by the Higher Council for Fiscal Policy (Confis) of the Ministry of Finance, to define the fiscal impact of the measure.
