Doctors call for a March this Tuesday, July 23, at 10:00which will start from the San Juan de Dios hospital, in “resounding rejection of the sole additional provision of bill 035-23/24”, referring to the “forced retirement”.

The call is made by the Federation of Unions of Medical Branches of Public Health (Fesirmes) and the Departmental Medical College.

The measure will be implemented throughout the country, as part of the National Medical Council’s instructions: “In light of the intransigent and irrational position of the organs of power, which ignore the sectors that oppose forced retirement.”

However, this National Medical Council stresses that pressure measures “must avoid, as much as possible, harm to the population and patients.” The national march will take place in all nine departments and its execution will depend on each Interdepartmental Interinstitutional Committee.

Fesirmes Santa Cruz had announced a 120-hour strike for last week, which did not come to fruition. However, they called for a new strike – for the same period – starting this Monday, July 22.

National Fesirmes had That pressure measure has been put on hold in the rest of the countrywhile they continued to await a response from government authorities. This situation had caused Santa Cruz to distance itself from the national meetings.
