According to his statements when presenting his management at the head of the regulatory body, the country has consolidated itself as regional reference in regulatory terms and sector development.
Arroyo highlighted that during his administration the sector of telecommunicationscharacterizing it as robust and open to investments, with ample opportunities for growth.
In addition, through a press release, he highlighted the administrative efficiency achieved, reducing the operating expenses while the institution’s operations and efficiency increased year after year.
One of the flagship projects under his leadership was the “Indotel Green“, oriented towards sustainable purchases that not only help the environment, but have also contributed to the reduction of operating costs.
Connectivity
In the area of connectivity, Arroyo mentioned the implementation of decree 539-20, which declared of high national interest the universal access to the internet broadband and the productive use of information and communications technologies (ICT).
The above has allowed the execution of biannual project plans and the tendering of frequency bands such as 700 MHz and 3.5 GHz, for the implementation of fifth-generation mobile networks. With these actions, the Dominican Republic became the second Latin American country to implement this cutting-edge technology.
In addition, he highlighted the “Improving connectivity for digital transformation” project, which is bringing fiber optics to strategic areas of the country, benefiting more than 107 thousand people through the connection of 343 public institutions such as schools, hospitals and city halls. This project also includes a six-year state subsidy for internet access in low-income households in the southern region.
In the social sphere, the program “Digital Social Basket“It facilitated access to telecommunications services for female heads of household, providing them with subsidized mobile equipment and promoting training in digital skills and entrepreneurship.
- Arroyo’s management also focused on the expansion of points of Wifi access free nationwide, benefiting various institutions such as universities, schools, hospitals and community centers.
In addition, the technical education and telecommunications infrastructure through the opening of ITLA centers in several provinces, with a scholarship plan that benefited thousands of young people.
