The National Assembly for Water and Life (Anavi) has become one of the most important spaces for struggle in Mexico. Here, during the first four meetings (the first in August 2022), various peoples, indigenous communities, organizations and collectives have denounced the plundering and contamination of water in their territories, the threats faced by defenders, the attacks against autonomy and the imposition of megaprojects and extractive projects. They will do the same in the upcoming fifth Assembly, which will be held on August 17 and 18 at the Samir Flores Soberanes House of the Peoples, formerly the offices of the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples (INPI), in Mexico City.
