A violent assault that occurred on the road between the community of Natividad and the town of Pitirinkini, in the area known as La Cumbre in Kimbiri, in the Valley of the Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro Rivers (Vraem), left one dead and two wounded. The bloody incident occurred in the evening hours of last Thursday. The three people were aboard a red pickup truck with license plate P3F 768.
According to the testimony of one of the injured, they were in the unit when they were suddenly intercepted by four men on two motorcycles, who blocked their way.
Without saying a word, the attackers shot directly at the bodies of the vehicle’s occupants, then got off the motorcycles and searched the vehicle, also ruthlessly stripping the victims of their belongings, despite their lamentable condition due to the wounds from the bullet impacts.
Apparently they were looking for money or drugs, that is under investigation.
The victim and driver of the truck was identified as Michael Florez Chanchayma, who died instantly at the scene of the attack.
The co-pilot, a woman identified as Roxana Nolasco Sandoval, was seriously injured and was taken to the Kimbiri hospital. The third occupant was shot in the leg and was taken to the Natividad Health Centre. The police are carrying out the corresponding investigations to clarify the events.
