CCL: There are 2.9 million Peruvians who have not completed their higher education

In Peru there are 2.9 million people who have not completed their studies. superiors, revealed the head of the Institute of Economics and Business Development of the Chamber of Commerce of Lima (), Oscar Chavez.

“This shows that this segment must be addressed if we want to have quality human capital whose contribution is relevant to sustained economic growth,” he said.

He also noted that people with a higher level of education are more productive, innovative and adaptable to change. This, he said, leads to greater human capital, economic growth and a more just society.

“Therefore, people with a higher level of education have better job opportunities, better health and well-being, higher incomes, civic participation and a lower risk of falling into poverty,” he added.

The CCL, with data from the National Household Survey of the INEI, identified that 71.8% (5.4 million) of Peruvians with higher education have a job, while 5.5% (420 thousand people) are unemployed. Added to these is the group that is not part of the EAP, which is 22.3%, that is, 1.7 million people.

“However, whether or not they have completed their studies causes this employability condition to vary, with the first case being estimated at 78.5%, while the second is 61.6% for those with unfinished studies. This is explained by the fact that the younger population is only dedicated to studying,” he added.

Regarding salary, he specified that the monthly average for Peruvians who have completed higher education is S/2,528, 80.7% more than those who did not complete their studies.
