The director of companies, Ivo Ucovichwas in a new edition of Ynnovadores, a program that is part of the Perú21TV schedule, and in conversation with Juan Alberto Flores he revealed the secrets of his business success and the hope he has for our country.
Ucovich said that his idea of diversifying his companies did not come from him, but rather he inherited it from his uncle. “I didn’t understand it, but it’s something I assimilated.” [la diversificación]”It’s not something I was aware of at the time, but it did excite me. We had eucalyptus plantations, only yellow potatoes, sheep, 30 thousand heads of cattle. It was no small feat.”
This idea of diversification was also born as a response of gratitude to our country, since it considers that generating jobs was its way of giving back to Peru everything it received.
“I think that was a thank you for everything I received from Peru, remember that I was not born here. I said to myself ‘how am I going to thank you, by paying taxes? OK’, but it is not enough. If you invest and create jobs, you are paying Peru back,” he says.
A metallurgical engineer with studies abroad, Ucovich has placed his faith in Peru and is still hoping to see our country develop. In this regard, he gives Singapore as an example, one of the most developed countries in its region, and lists a series of important characteristics.
“Singapore, which was a small island within the British domain, 70 or 75 years ago, became independent and today it is one of the most prosperous countries in the world, with respect for the authorities and incredible civility. This proves that it is possible. We must find capable people who will lead us to that,” said the expert businessman.
Currently, Ucovich has dedicated himself mainly to the mining sector and has received several awards such as the Gold Medal of the Mining Chamber of Peru.
