ALBA-TCP celebrates 45th anniversary of the triumph of the Sandinista Revolution

The member states of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) congratulate the brave people and government of the Republic of Nicaragua on Friday commemorating the 45th anniversary of the triumph of the Sandinista Revolution.

Below is the full text:

On July 19, 1979, the wise Nicaraguan people, with the organization of the Sandinista National Liberation Front, charted the path to freedom and put an end to more than 40 years of the dictatorial and traitorous regime of the Somoza family, supported by the United States.

It has been 45 years since the Sandinista National Liberation Front gave voice to the cries of the men and women of the Nicaraguan homeland, decided to break the chains that had mired the nation in a series of inequalities, and led this sister country along the path of the anti-imperialist struggle for social justice.

The member countries of ALBA-TCP join in the joy of the Nicaraguan people and government on this very special day in the history of Latin America. Thanks to the libertarian struggle initiated by Augusto César Sandino, his ideals of sovereignty and independence awakened the dreams of freedom of the Nicaraguan people, today led by Comrade President Daniel Ortega Saavedra.
