A school parade in the city of Iquitos, in the Loreto region, ended in chaos when several students from a local school fainted at the end of the parade.
The incident occurred in Plaza José Abelardo Quiñones and was witnessed by numerous students, teachers and professionals present at the event.
The teenagers, who collapsed due to the intense heat, had to be helped and carried by teachers, police officers and members of the Red Cross.
According to parents, the high temperatures recorded since 6 a.m. were the main factor contributing to the fainting. The schoolchildren were exposed to extreme heat to participate in the parade, without the necessary preventive measures being taken by the municipality.
As a result, 50 students fainted and were taken to hospital for medical attention. Fortunately, all the girls are out of danger.
Parents of the affected students have expressed their outrage at what happened and demand that the case be investigated to determine who is responsible.
They criticize the authorities for not taking the necessary preventive measures to protect students from extreme heat, especially considering the high temperatures recorded in Iquitos during this time of year.
