Agents of the Guárico state police arrested the former opposition deputy Octavio Ortawho was reportedly seized weapons and drugs.
Orta’s arrest took place this Thursday in the vicinity of the Pedro Zaraza bridge, San Juan de los Morros (Guárico),
Along with Orta, they arrested David Ramón Mendez Márquez (51) and Juan Slew Rondón Sarco (19). These people were traveling in a Ford Explorer license plate NAX83B where a Taurus 9 mm pistol was located with its respective cartridge, 80 7.62 X 39 mm bullets, from an AK-103 rifle and two hundred and forty grams of suspected marijuana-type drug. They also seized five cell phones and an electronic tablet.
According to International Police (Interpol) files filed by Portugal, Orta is wanted due to alleged involvement in corruption and embezzlement, classified in that European nation as a crime of money laundering, according to file 587/19.4.
Mendez Márquez presents a police record dated 08/12/1993, at the municipal delegation of Cicpc-Los Teques (Miranda) for the crime of trafficking in narcotic and psychotropic substances.
Octavio Orta was a candidate for the governorship of Guárico in the 2021 elections for the Democratic Alliance, where the current president José Vásquez (Psuv) won.
