A macabre discovery took place in the early hours of Wednesday, July 17, on the Medellín-Bogotá highway, near the Manantiales sector in the jurisdiction of Bello.
Metropolitan Police Commander General Oscar Andres Lamprea said the incident occurred at 1:07 a.m. at kilometer 3+100 of the highway.
Criminals in two vehicles abandoned the body, which was discovered hours later by security guards during a routine patrol.
“We learned of the incident through a call made by some citizens to the 123 line and the police immediately arrived at the scene, where they found a package in a black bag, which was later confirmed to contain a body,” said General Lamprea.
Victim Identification
The inspection of the body, carried out by agents of the Sijín of the Metropolitan Police, revealed that it was Jorge Eliécer Yepes Toro, 45 years old, originally from the municipality of Ciudad Bolívar, in the southwest of Antioquia.
It is being investigated whether his death is related to events that occurred in his place of origin or within the Aburrá Valley.

With the death of Jorge Eliécer Yepes Toro, the number of bodies abandoned in bags, sacks and other containers in the Aburrá Valley rises to 21 in 2024 and 96 since 2021.
In Bello, five bodies have been found in these conditions during the year, this being the first case recorded on the Medellín-Bogotá highway.
The body of Jorge Eliécer Yepes Toro is currently in the facilities of the Forensic Medicine in the Caribe neighborhood, Medellín, waiting to be claimed by his relatives.
Authorities are continuing to investigate this crime to clarify the circumstances and find those responsible for this heinous murder.
