The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, warned about the possibility that the Chilean authorities intend to “manipulate the statement” of Maickel Villegas, alleged murderer of “former Lieutenant Ronald Ojeda” and who was arrested in Costa Rica to be taken to Chile, where the kidnapping and subsequent murder occurred.
The Attorney General in statements given to Last Newsstated that “I am disseminating the information based on the arrest of this subject in Costa Rica and I am warning about the possible use of a statement that could be made expressly (deliberately), by this criminal, to then blame the murder of Ronald Ojeda on Venezuela.”
He said that “Chile started doing the investigation wrong, saying that the guy was in Venezuela, that we were protecting him, which was not the case. We should not be surprised that when the criminal arrives in Chile, they force him to testify against our country,” he said, explaining the reason for his X.
Requests Chile to receive Venezuelan delegation
In his account on the social network X, Saab reported that they will request from the southern nation “the submission, based on what is established in the American Association of Public Prosecutors (AIAMP), of the full identification of Maickel Villegas, a certified copy of the identification card, fingerprints and photographs, as well as his status and immigration record (entries and exits).”
He also stated that, based on what was established in the Palermo Convention, they will request the collaboration of Chile, “in order to receive a delegation from the Venezuelan Prosecutor’s Office, to interview said criminal, and thus be able to gather elements that allow for the clarification of the crime committed.”
Finally, he indicated that “these actions by the Public Prosecutor’s Office have the purpose – in the face of an unethical and weak investigation carried out by the Chilean Prosecutor’s Office – to warn national and international public opinion of the clear possibility that the Chilean authorities also intend to manipulate the detainee’s statement (based on false positives), in order to continue using them as a false flag case against our nation.”
