Maria Corina Machado reported that Milciades Avila must appear before a court in Maracay every 30 days

The opposition leader Maria Corina Machado reported on the night of Thursday, July 18, that its security chief, Milciades Ávila, had been released from prison.

Through social media, Machado said that Ávila was received at the Vente Venezuela headquarters “who received a precautionary measure of presentation at the Maracay court every 30 days, as a result of the presentation hearing held this afternoon.”

The national coordinator of Vente Venezuela thanked those who, with their support, “contributed to making this first step possible to reverse this injustice.”

For his part, lawyer Omar Mora Tosta posted a photo with María Corina Machado’s head of security and said: “Little by little we will dismantle the reckless and false accusations against her. We will continue working for freedom and the return of justice to Venezuela.”

On Wednesday, July 17, María Corina Machado reported that her security chief was arrested for allegedly committing a gender-based crime last weekend at a restaurant in La Encrucijada, Aragua state, when officials from the entity harassed the opposition’s political team.

“There are dozens of witnesses and videos that prove that this act was a planned provocation to leave us without protection 11 days before July 28,” he said.
