Union leader who organized an event in support of Edmundo González in Monagas arrested

Opposition leader María Gabriela Hernández denounced that union leader Régulo Reyna had organized an event in support of the candidate of the Unitary Platform


Trade union and political leader Régulo Reyna was arrested on the afternoon of Thursday, July 18, in the Libertador municipality of Monagas state.

“The Monagas State Police deprived the union and political leader, Régulo Reyna, alias Pavón, of his freedom in the Libertador Municipality. Days ago he had held a large event in support of Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia,” the opposition leader denounced. Maria Gabriela Hernandez throught social media.

For its part, Vente Venezuela said that the campaign of the ruling candidate, Nicolás Maduro, is violence. “They attack, persecute, criminalize and arbitrarily detain opposition leaders for assuming a commitment to freedom,” said María Corina Machado’s organization.

Likewise, César Pérez Vivas, leader of the Citizen Concertation, said that “in a new act of repression, the repressive forces of the regime arrested the union and social leader Régulo Reina from the town of Temblador, Monagas state, after he abandoned the official party’s finals and declared his support for the candidacy of Edmundo González Urrutia.”
