Antel and ANEP promote creativity and teamwork among high school students
The contest “We all make the future” invites students from 7th to 9th grade of Integrated Basic Education (EBI) from all public high schools and UTU in the country to participate. To do so, each class must make a video on YouTube, until August 18. The initiative seeks to bring young people closer to research in technology and innovation, through creativity and teamwork.
The competition was presented in the Idea Vilariño room of the Torre de las Telecomunicaciones complex. The presidents of the National Public Education Administration (ANEP), Virginia Cáceres, and of Antel, Annabela Suburú, participated there; as well as the general directors of Secondary Education, Jenifer Cherro, and of UTU, Juan Pereyra.
To participate in this proposal, which coincides with the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the creation of Antel, students must produce a video of a maximum of three minutes in length, which demonstrates how they imagine the future of telecommunications and its application in their reference group or in Uruguayan society as a whole.
On this occasion, Cáceres said that the aim is to encourage teamwork and for high school students to express their vision on the role of telecommunications and technology with a view to the future. The jury of the competition will choose one video per department.
He also highlighted the work that ANEP has been doing with Antel during this period, as it has managed to ensure that students have access to connectivity during the pandemic, which “allowed them to maintain their connection within the system.” He also praised the installation of antennas in rural schools by the entity.
Suburú recalled that the call is part of the actions for the 50th anniversary of Antel, which will be celebrated on July 25. He added that benefits will also be offered to the company’s customers.
The videos submitted will be broadcast on the YouTube platform and the best ones will then be selected. Prizes include stays at the UTE-Antel holiday park and mobile devices from its supplier companies.
