Nicaraguan regime approaches Qatar and Algeria, its alternative to international isolation

The dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, isolated and condemned by the international community, continues to strengthen its diplomatic relations with countries in Asia and Africa. This Monday, May 20, he announced the visit to Nicaragua of an official from Qatar and another from the Republic of Algeria.

Through the official media, Murillo indicated the upcoming arrival of the Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, the Sultan Bin Saad al-Muraikhi. The main objective of the Arab citizen is to present his “style letters” and sign “important documents for political consultations between the foreign ministries of Qatar and Nicaragua.”

The spokesperson for the dictatorship welcomed the diplomat and added that he would have “meetings with ministers of our Government Cabinet” to continue “building alliances for the future that we all long for and that we all deserve.”

Ties with Algeria

Likewise, the Ortega regime wants to have the nations of the African continent as “allies.” Murillo also announced the visit of the diplomatic “attaché” Mohammed Abadchef to Nicaragua.

With his visit, the official will begin the arrangements for the opening of the embassy of the “heroic people and government” of Algeria in the country. “Nicaragua and Algeria, fighting peoples, brother peoples and peoples where the joy of peace vibrates,” said the Ortega spokesperson.

Since last year, the Nicaraguan regime has “desperately” tried to establish closer diplomatic relations with countries where the United States, the European Union and other international human rights organizations have less influence, thus avoiding criticism of its dictatorial form of government.
