The Single National Union of Construction and Annexes (Sunca) called for a partial national strike from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for this Friday due to the death of a truck driver and an official who carried out tasks on the route after an accident.
The incident occurred at kilometer 518 when a truck carrying cattle collided with one loaded with asphalt that was parked. After the crash, both vehicles caught fire, which spread to both sides of the road and in which the National Fire Department had to intervene.
As a result of the accident, two men died. One of them was the driver of the truck loaded with cattle, 28 years old, and the 33-year-old flagman from the construction site.

“SUNCA is in solidarity with the family of the two workers who lost their lives,” said the union’s National Secretary for Propaganda, Cristian Techera.
Meanwhile, the Single Trade Union of Freight Transport Branches and Related (Suctra) He expressed his “enormous pain” for the event and assures that an accident of this type “is avoidable” like “the majority in which a trucker is involved.”
For this reason, they urged the existence of a control system that includes inspection and “the real requirement” of statutory compliance limiting work hours for truck drivers.
“We demand both the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Transport and Public Works to promise less and act more on the reinstallation of a Comprehensive Control System that ensures the lives of workers, and of citizens in general,” the union said in a release.
The union said the delay in making decisions on the part of the government “directly transfers into higher costs of living.”
