After the massive cuts of light that affected numerous clients as a result of the frontal system that hit a large part of the central-southern area, the National Corporation of Consumers and Users (Conadecus) together with the Metropolitan Regional Government of Santiago, filed a class action lawsuit against Enel, seeking answers and solutions for those affected.
In response to this situation, In it issued a statement confirming a request for a Collective Voluntary Procedure (PVC) before Sernac for the benefit of affected clients. This procedure seeks to provide additional compensation to those who were most affected by the power outages.
The compensation announced by In it It is independent of statutory compensations, which are automatically applied when supply interruptions exceed 9 hours in a rolling year. Victor Tavera, general manager of Enel Distribución, expressed his regret for the difficulties caused and stressed that the company is committed to resolving the situation.
Regarding how affected customers will be compensated, In it has not yet provided concrete details on how this compensation will be applied.
However, the company is expected to seek a formula to voluntarily compensate those customers who experienced prolonged power outages during the event on May 7. In this sense, In it has expressed its willingness to collaborate and seek solutions to mitigate the impacts of power outages on its customers.
