Sheynnis Palacios’ exile is an example of the dictatorship’s “hatred and irrational fear” against what it cannot control

Sheynnis Palacios' exile is an example of the dictatorship's "hatred and irrational fear" against what it cannot control

The Ortega-Murillo dictatorship did everything possible to cause the exile of Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios and her family, because they have “irrational hatred and fear” of everything they cannot control and, furthermore, as revenge because they failed to do so. that the Nicaraguan model paid reverence to them as all her fans do, and rather gained a lot of sympathy among the population, analyzed human rights defenders consulted by Article 66.

For Danny Ramírez-Ayérdiz, executive secretary of the Inter-American Legal Assistance Center for Human Rights (CALIDH), the forced exile that the Nicaraguan Miss Universe had to assume is the result of a form of repression perpetrated by the dictatorship that reveals the “irrational” hatred, mainly from the vice-dictator Rosario Murillo, did what they cannot control.

This Sunday, May 12, the owner of the Miss Universe franchise, Thai Anne Jakrajutatip, reported, through her official social media accounts, that the family of the current Miss Universe left Nicaragua, and that the queen of universal beauty will not be able to return to the country “indefinitely”, that is, Palacios thus becomes the first Miss Universe in the history of that pageant, who after being crowned, is prevented from returning to her country.

«The repression against Sheynnis is due to two things: firstly, he did not thank the Government at the event, and secondly, he (the dictatorship) was afraid of the spontaneous reaction of the people to go out into the streets to celebrate with “its blue and white flags the triumph of the young woman,” analyzes the director of CALIDH.

According to Ramírez-Ayérdiz, the dictatorship does not tolerate someone gaining popularity and the affection of the people and not paying “worship to the personality of Ortega and Murillo” and that frightens them because they see conspiracy everywhere, even in the competitions. beauty, just as he wanted to show in the accusation against the Celebertti family.

The human rights defender adds that Miss Universe 2023, in addition to her great popularity worldwide, which has been demonstrated in each reception in all the countries she arrives in, in Nicaragua she is seen as an “example of dignity” because the Nicaraguans see in her “a reference of which they are proud.

Nicaraguans in the World put themselves at the service of the Palacios Cornejo family

For her part, the human rights activist and president of the Nicaraguans in the World organization, Haydée Castillo, expressed her solidarity with Sheynnis Palacios and reminded her that she does not have to feel guilty about anything because “she has done absolutely nothing wrong to receive such a blow.” from the regime.

«She is innocent, she is a woman who has raised the name of Nicaragua and, as a woman, as a Nicaraguan, I feel proud of her. The regime knows that it has less and less support from the people of Nicaragua, and this (Palacios’ triumph) fills it with panic, with terror,” said the Nicaraguan activist exiled in the United States.

He also pointed out that actions such as the pressure exerted by the dictatorship to criminalize Miss Nicaragua and Miss Universe come mainly from Rosario Murillo “who, throughout history, has been cruel to us as feminists and has been cruel to Nicaraguan women.”

«Tell Sheynnis that we (the exile) welcome her, that she is part of us, we are all Nicaraguans, that according to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights no one, no dictator nor anyone can deprive us of our citizenship, nor of our right to return to Nicaragua and that together, together, all Nicaraguans, putting aside differences in political ideology, race, territory, economic position, we are going to return. Personally, I send you this message, as president of Nicaraguans in the World: You are not alone, we are millions, and with that strength we are going to return and we are going to get out of a dictatorship that is only compared to North Korea,” she urged. Castle.

And he announced that Nicaraguans in the World is at your service, with the entire network of Human Rights Defender organizations, “to support her, if she wants it, if she needs it,” to process her asylum process.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the opposition PUDE platform, Enrique Martínez, declared that it is worth highlighting the unconditional support that the Miss Universe franchise has given Palacios.

And he warned that the forced exile of the Nicaraguan beauty queen enhances the negative perception internationally of how the dictatorship has limited the figure of Sheynnis Palacios.

He reiterated that the dictatorship is afraid of the transcendence of the young model, due to the symbolism and the capacity for mobilization that she has represented, “based on the love and respect for her career and the pride that she brought to a people that had been hit by a dictatorship and had taken away the hope of having elements on a global level.

«The public perception (of the dictatorship) is already deteriorated, but with this new scenario in the level of impact that the figure of Sheynnis has in the world, beyond showbiz, but in the immense intellectual capacity and messages of inspiration and empowerment that he has managed to command in women’s issues, exposes the regime to criticism from the world.

Despite the hard blow dealt by the dictatorship to Nicaraguan beauty, Martínez optimistically believes that “Palacios’ reign continues, and we are going to see her shine even more, as she has been doing in recent months.”
