During the month of April this year, Tocumen International Airport has processed an impressive total of 1,557,428 passengers, marking an increase of 9.8% compared to the same period last year.
Raffoul Arab, General Manager of Tocumen International Airport, has expressed his optimism regarding this solid performance of the industry, highlighting an upward trend that is considerably benefiting the airport’s ability to meet its commitments and to advance development projects. Since the beginning of the year, the terminal has facilitated the transfer of 6,153,781 passengers between both terminals.
According to data provided by the Statistics Department of the Tocumen International Airport, the most dynamic regional markets in April included South America, representing 44% of traffic, followed by North America with 28%, the Caribbean with 12%, Central America with 11%, and Europe with 5%.
Tocumen International Airport is served by 31 airlines, including 15 dedicated to cargo transportation and 16 focused on passengers.
Destinations and Markets
Regarding international connections, during April, Tocumen has maintained direct routes to 88 destinations, operated by 16 commercial airlines, offering services to the main cities of America and Europe.
The data reveal that, of the total number of passengers who have used the Tocumen terminal in April, 72% corresponded to passengers in transit. In addition, 12,311 aircraft movements have been managed during this period.
Regional Terminals and Cargo
As for the cargo terminal, the movement of 17,737 metric tons of merchandise has been recorded during the fourth month of the year.
On the other hand, the Panama Pacífico, Enrique Malek, Scarlett Martínez and Enrique A. Jiménez regional terminals, managed by Tocumen, SA, have recorded a total traffic of 59,233 passengers and 2,077 aircraft operations in April.
Standing out among the regional terminals, Panamá Pacífico has experienced the greatest movement, processing a total of 28,842 passengers, while the domestic terminal in Terminal 2 has served 18,004 passengers.
