Armando Palacios, Director of Sinaproc, referred to the sinking of Gardi Sudup Island in the Guna Yala Region, saying that the Ministry of Housing built a new neighborhood on the mainland for the transfer of those affected.

Due to climate change, the island of Gardi Sadup will be one of the first to lose territory, little by little it has been sinking so it is no longer habitable except as a tourist area.

In the month of June, the transfer of the entire population ends, said Palacios, highlighting that the Ministry of Housing built a new neighborhood in Guna Yala for these affected people.

Palacios indicated that the affected people will be transferred to the mainland about 15 minutes from the island. They are plots of 300 square meters and a house of 60 m².
