The mayor of La Paz, Iván Arias, considered this Sunday that the leaders of the drivers are seeking his candidacy for future elections through the demand of increase in tickets.
“It is an action, not thinking about the people, but thinking about their possible candidacy for senator, deputy or surely councilor or mayor in future elections,” he said on Panamericana radio.
The municipal authority assured that they are not thinking about the economy of the worker behind the wheel, but rather “about their personal appetites” and how to generate conflict or confrontation with neighbors.
“In addition, they have the audacity to set the prices themselves, to set the deadlines themselves. These gentlemen (…) are doing cheap politicking”, he insisted.
In an expanded statement made on Friday, leaders of the country’s drivers insisted on increasing or “leveling” the fares and to do so they demanded the completion of technical studies.
