This week, the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, through the Managua Mayor’s Office, launched a painting contest aimed at children between five and nine years old, to represent the “life and work” of Augusto C. Sandino, the figure that was appropriated by the party that today governs Nicaragua in a dictatorial manner.

Registration for the supposed contest will be open from May 9 to May 22. And the prizes for the first three places are three thousand, two thousand and one thousand córdobas respectively, for each of the first three places.
Pedro Pablo Castillo, director of culture and historical heritage of the Managua Mayor’s Office, when trying to justify the contest that involves children in a clearly propaganda activity in favor of the political party of the dictatorship, said that the objective is “to encourage creativity and stimulate children’s imagination and artistic expression.
For a teacher who works at a school in Managua, it is “hateful and disgusting” that they are indoctrinating children in political matters, and even worse if they are not from Sandinista families.
The government spokesperson of Nicaragua, Rosario Murillo, announced, twice this week, that her regime is preparing the new “National Strategy of Education, Blessings and Victories” which from its title shows that it is actually a strategy of “indoctrination.” and Sandinista propaganda” that in the medium and long term will cause severe damage to the country’s development, political scientist and opposition figure Félix Maradiaga has warned.
The vice dictator said, on May 7, that a working commission, headed by the general director of the National Technological Institute (Inatec), Loyda Barreda, is working on a “New National Education Strategy” that, supposedly, will take into account all levels, from initial education (preschool), primary in its regular, multigrade and distance modalities in the countryside.
In addition, regular secondary school, distance learning in the countryside, online high school, literacy, educational continuity, teacher training, as well as technical education, arts and universities in all modalities.
According to Murillo, in the new strategy, “axes and guidelines” are supposedly defined that will be “consult at the national level”, in the so-called “congresses “45 years of victories, more triumphs of education”” that they will be holding with a view to the celebration of next July 19.
For political scientist and former political inmate Félix Maradiaga, this reform to the education strategy announced by the Ortega-Murillo regime represents a clear setback in the country’s development and an “affront to the fundamental rights of children and young people.”
The opponent warns that the educational reform promoted by dictatorial marriage is “one more step towards the totalitarian model of dictatorship.”
