Transfer and assembly of modular classrooms begins at school in the Ngäbe region

The Minister of Education, Maruja Gorday de Villalobos, led a meeting at the Cascabel school in the Ngäbe Buglé Region to report on the progress of the transfer and assembly of 18 modular classrooms in said educational center.

The process, which is 80% complete in terms of awarding the work, will begin the transfer of materials in the month of May, after the public event was declared void on three occasions due to lack of bidders.

An amount of 1.6 million balboas has been allocated to start the work, which is in the process of review by the Comptroller General of the Republic.

The project, which is part of the CON Escuela 2024 program and has the support of the United Nations, aims to address the priority needs of schools in the Region, where 16 million balboas have been allocated to works in recent months.

In addition to the modular classrooms, the Improving the Quality and Efficiency of the Educational Sector (Mecse) program will build a kitchen, dining room, bedrooms for educators and latrines for both students and teachers at the Cascabel Educational Center, which serves 500 students from preschool to high school. .

Similar efforts are being made in 12 other schools in the region to install modular classrooms and other necessary spaces in educational centers. Community leaders, representatives of teachers’ unions and authorities from the Ministry of Education and other relevant institutions participated in the meeting.
