Panama joins the global PREZODE initiative to prevent pandemics

This Wednesday, April 24, the Vice Minister of Health of Panama, Ivette Berrío, signed the Declaration of Intent to Prevent the Emergence of Zoonotic Diseases (PREZODE), an initiative led by the Government of France. This alliance seeks to strengthen the prevention of risks associated with zoonotic emergencies and pandemics at an international level.

Panama’s accession to this declaration will allow the country to be part of a global network dedicated to promoting research and operational actions in the field of international health. Focusing on the prevention of emerging diseases and preparation for future pandemics, PREZODE provides a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration between countries and the implementation of effective preventive measures.

By joining PREZODE, Panama reaffirms its commitment to the prevention and control of zoonotic diseases, as well as its willingness to work in collaboration with other countries to mitigate the risks of future pandemics.

This initiative represents a significant step towards a more coordinated and effective global response to cross-border health threats. With the participation of Panama, it is expected that this international network can leverage even more resources and knowledge to protect the health of the world’s population.
