The regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, increasingly excluded by the international community in the diplomatic and economic spheres, asked developed countries for more financing and to soften what they call “current capitalist, selfish and inhumane financial model” and called for “true cooperation” to be able to fulfill the 2030 agenda of poverty reduction.
During the Economic and Social Council Forum on monitoring financing for development, held this Monday, April 22, at the headquarters of the United Nations (UN) in New York, the representative of the dictatorship before the organization, Jaime Hermida, read a message from its bosses, in which, in addition to strongly criticizing the financing policies established by developed countries, it asks for money to, supposedly, invest in development.

The message sent by the dictator Ortega to the economic powers, through the Forum, indicates that “financing is crucial to materialize development actions, international financial systems must provide greater access in an equitable and inclusive manner, and support the provision of resources and investments. Likewise, developed countries must fulfill their binding commitments regarding official development assistance.
In addition to asking for financing, the dictatorship attacked the largest economies in the world, blaming them for the crisis suffered by developing countries because, as they point out, they face “the ravages of the crises produced primarily by the current capitalist, selfish and inhumane financial model.” that every day undermines the development of our people, and increasing more extreme poverty, more hunger and more inequality in the world.
The Nicaraguan regime insists on blaming the “capitalist economic powers” for world hunger and demands money from them, precisely a few days after the G7, the grouping of the seven main democratic economic powers in the world, sent a harsh message. demanding that widespread repression and religious persecution cease and that political prisoners be released. In addition, it urges Ortega to hold free and democratic elections with the participation of all political actors in the country.
The Sandinista administration, accustomed to responding with hate speech to any country or intentional organization that criticizes it, until now has not responded to the G7, it has not accused it of being interventionist, as the government spokesperson, Rosario Murillo, always does.
On the contrary, he sent his ambassador to the UN to present to the Economic and Social Council the urgency of creating “a new multipolar international economic model and a reform of the financial architecture with policies aimed at true cooperation, actions that provide “more financing and access to developing countries to accelerate and fully comply with the 2030 Agenda.”
They continue to “demand” that sanctions be lifted
Ortega’s envoy took advantage of the UN Economic and Social Council Forum to continue “demanding” that they lift sanctions against them and other countries.
What the Sandinista representatives do not explain is that in the case of Nicaragua the sanctions that several countries have applied are specific, that is, directed at officials and institutions of the dictatorship, involved in corruption and violation of human rights and do not affect the country’s exports and imports.

«It is undeniable, and known to all, that when we talk about financing for development, we cannot underestimate, separate, much less exclude, more than 2 million million people, more than 40 countries that suffer every day. of the impacts of the application of illegal, terrorist, coercive, unilateral measures and their obstacles on access to loans and viable projects in international financial institutions, for developing countries trying to implement the 2030 Agenda, especially the eradication of poverty,” complained Ortega’s ambassador.
Likewise, they explained to the UN that they are concerned because “instead of decreasing this policy of imposing sanctions, every day the imperialists and neocolonialists increase them, and apply them to more countries.” They assure that the measures are incompatible and a contradiction with the Financing for Development forum and ask that they be “immediately eliminated.”
The forum held at the UN this Monday was with a view to the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development that will be held in June 2025 in Spain.
