This Tuesday it was learned that the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, will leave his post due to health problems.
The Ministry of Health (Minsa) informed the country that Sucre will travel abroad in the next few days to undergo a medical evaluation and procedure, for this reason, starting on Wednesday, February 16, the deputy minister, Dr. Ivette Berrío will assume the position of minister in charge.
Meanwhile, the current secretary general of the institution, Dr. José Baruco, will act as deputy minister in charge.
Once Sucre completes the recovery period indicated by the doctors, he will return to his usual work at the head of the Minsa.
Luis Francisco Sucre took over as Minister of Health in June 2020, replacing Rosario Turner. During Turner’s administration, Sucre served as deputy minister of that portfolio.
