The students of the Luis H. Bouroncle School (Cercado) have been waiting for more than three years for the reconstruction of their institution, which was declared uninhabitable in February 2019 by the Disaster Risk Management Sub-Management of the Provincial Municipality of Arequipa (MPA) .
The provincial commune would be in charge of the construction of the new infrastructure. Despite having two years to carry out the work, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the entity only completed the technical file in December of last year. “It remains to designate S / 14 million for construction. But they do not inform us about the schedule”, reported yesterday the director of the school, Fredy Rodríguez.
Students. Due to the lack of new structure, some 680 primary school students will continue to study in 24 prefabricated classrooms that are 8 years old, according to Rodriguez. The teacher explained that each classroom will be occupied by 15 students. Consequently, due to the scarcity of space, classes will be blended this 2022.
After an inspection carried out yesterday, the president of the MPA’s Good Return to the School Year commission, Nilo Cruz, confirmed that the institution is in the process of implementing the health regulations against the coronavirus.
