They welcome the decision to block stolen cell phones in the DR. citizens greeted the measure announced by the Dominican Telecommunications Institute (INDOTEL) to block cell phones that are reported stolen in the country. They understand that the action will contribute to reduce the theft of cell phones for the resale of these devices.
INDOTEL’s measure is contained in the Resolution 041-2020 which also establishes a series of commitments that must be accepted and fulfilled by the different telephone companies in the country in order to implement new legislation on the subject of telecommunications in the country.

The people consulted assured that the measure is timely due to the constant robberies that occur in the streets of the country due to the wave of crime and citizen insecurity that has prevailed in the Dominican Republic for several years.
They also indicated that cell phones are one of the most frequent targets of criminals due to their high demand and the large resale market that exists in the country. In addition, they emphasized the risk of invasion of the right to privacy that the practice represents.
