The Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) accepted the request for reconsideration of the Commission for the Yes to lease the Centenario Stadium for an event on March 12, reported Channel 12 and confirmed the vice president of the institution, Gastón Tealdi, to El Observador .

“We look at the background and there has already been a history of political acts at the Centenario Stadium. LThe ban we have is on sports events, but not on other types of events, so we are willing to reconsider. Then there are organizational issues that will determine whether or not it is done in the stadium, but for our part there would be no problem. We can’t tell some yes and others no,” he explained.

The promoters of the referendum that seeks to repeal 135 articles of the Law of Urgent Consideration (LUC) had requested to hold an act that day with the performance of national artists and the reading of a proclamation in the Olympic Tribune. From the Administrative Commission of the Official Field (CAFO) they were denied that possibility and eso generated criticism from militants for the Yes, among them, the president of the Broad Front, Fernando Pereira.

“In a democratic country, for a CAFO to say no to a show organization because it wants to finance a Yes campaign: what is the difference with a musician who wants to donate to Aldeas Infantiles? Why is it wrong to make a show that finances a campaign? Why does CAFO take a position if it can lend them to everyone? What happens is that it is brave to fill the Centennial Stadium with people in favor of No, “he said at the time.
