Inflation would rise to 7.35% in February

After in January, annual inflation stood at 6.94%higher than the analysts’ forecast, which in January’s Fedesarrollo Financial Opinion Survey had said it would be 6.17%, they said that for February the annualized indicator will be 7.35%.

This confirms that inflation expectations are outside the target range of the Banco de la República (2.0% to 4.0%), according to the results of the survey.
On the other hand, analysts forecast that at the end of the year inflation will close at 5.05%, showing an increase in your prediction compared to last month.

Likewise, 73% of the analysts said that in the next monetary policy decision that will take place on March 31, they said that they expect the rate to remain at 4.0%, while 13.0% foresee that will be located at 4.5% and 10.8% believes that it will rise to 5.0%, while the remaining 2.7% think that it will be at 6.0%.

In February, the growth forecast for 2021 was in a range between 9.7% and 10.08%, with 9.97% as the median response (9.7% in the January edition). The median of the forecasts for 2022 was 4.2%, being in a range between 4.0% and 5.0%.
Expectations for growth in the fourth quarter of 2021 ranged between 8.20 and 9.45%, with 8.9% as the median response (9.1% in the January edition).

For the first quarter of 2022, the median growth forecast was 5.1%, ranging between 4.5% and 6.22%.
