The public prosecutor specialized in crimes of corruption, Javier Pacheco Palacios, has asked the Minister of Transport and Communications, Juan Silva, to send information on the activities of the entity’s worker, Juan Altamirano, who, according to a report by Punto Final, offered jobs for people close to Peru Libre.
The Sunday newspaper revealed that Altamirano, in addition to offering work, presents himself as an advisor to Minister Silva and even makes video calls in the meeting room next to the MTC ministerial office.
Although the entity has rejected this report and has assured that Altamirano is only “a technician who provides his services as a landlord in the General Secretariat of the MTC”, the Anti-Corruption Attorney’s Office has already acted and has requested information on a “very urgent” basis.
The attorney has required an “activity report for the months that Altamirano provided services in 2021 and 2022”, the “terms of reference for the latest services in 2021 and 2022”, the “conformity of the requesting area with respect to the latest deliverables”, the documented CV and service orders.
Likewise, the Attorney General’s Office has requested information about Julio Lazo, adviser to the ministerial office, who in the Sunday report assures that Altamirano is the one who “will receive the documents and is going to” start filtering them, working on them, and passing them on to Human Resources, and that Follow your process.”
“In relation to the person of Julio Lazo Álvarez, it is requested to answer the following questions: what type of contract binds him to the entity? And what functions or services does he perform or provide? ”, Reads the official letter sent by the attorney Javier Pacheco to Minister Silva.
