The Popular Action bench, at the initiative of its legislator, Edwin Martínez, presented a bill that proposes to expel foreigners residing in Peru who have committed certain crimes, among which is drinking alcoholic beverages on public roads.
Initiative 1280/2021-CR proposes to modify numeral 58.1 of article 58 of Legislative Decree No. 1350, Legislative Decree on Migration, in order to include new crimes, among which the consumption of alcohol on public roads and the exercise of prostitution or pimping stand out.
Among the arguments that support the legal initiative is that, according to figures from the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the National Police, from January to July 2021, about 7,000 crimes were committed by Venezuelan criminals and another 1,500 by foreigners of other nationalities.
“In the face of this problem, the legislative initiative is proposed to be able to put an end to the aggravating growth of delinquency and other forms of crimes committed by foreigners who have settled in our Country. To expel immediately, exhausting the administrative and judicial channels, to the country of origin”it reads in the project.
“This situation is intolerable, which is why extreme measures are required to alleviate this situation, which is becoming more difficult to deal with and endure every day.”, add the document.
