Day of Love and Friendship: Concanaco foresees economic income of more than 22,000 million pesos

Day of Love and Friendship: Concanaco foresees economic income of more than 22,000 million pesos

The country’s merchants expect national sales on the Day of Love and Friendship to exceed 22,000 million pesos, a figure very similar to that recorded in the pre-pandemic period during 2020.

The president of the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco- Servytur), Héctor Tejada Shaar, trusted that the celebration of February 14 will become a respite for the country’s merchants, especially for micro, small and medium-sized ones, whose sales have been reduced at the beginning of 2022 due to inflation and the impact of the Omicron variant of Covid-19.

“The Day of Love and Friendship will contribute in some way to the economic growth of Mexico and, above all, to the well-being of the millions of families that depend on formal commerce in our country,” said the business leader.

The economic spill expected for the Day of Love and Friendship in 2022 is similar to that recorded in 2020, prior to the covid-19 pandemic.

However, “there are no economic conditions for there to be a significant increase in sales compared to that period.”

Lodging, restaurants, department stores, sweet shops and flower shops will be the businesses that benefit the most from Valentine’s Day, especially from this weekend until Monday, February 14, when most of the sales will be concentrated.

A year ago, when facing the negative impact of the confinement and suspension of economic activities due to the Covid-19 pandemic during 2020, the first months of 2021 were not good for trade, services and tourism, and in for the national economy, since it faced the worst “January slope in recent years, which lasted until February and March”.

In 2021, the established trade registered an economic benefit of 11,500 million pesos on the Day of Love and Friendship, half compared to 2020, when the figure was more than 22,800 million pesos.

The president of the concanaco urged Mexican consumers to make their purchases in formal commerce and continue to comply with hygiene and safety measures at all times.

In case of opting for electronic commerce, Tejada Shaar recalled that the platform exists concaclickdriven by its own concanaco– Serviturwhere consumers can find a complete directory of establishments to purchase various goods and services online.
