The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) reported that the road where a bus from the company Transportes Picaflor Tours fell into a 200-meter-deep abyss on the Tayabamba-Huancaspata route, province of Pataz (La Libertad) and that left 22 dead and more than 30 injured, it is in adequate traffic conditions.
Through a releasespecified that the mentioned route is administered by the Zonal Unit La Libertad de Provías Nationalthrough which it is provided routine maintenance at 231 kilometers of this corridor.
“The sector where the accident occurred has a platform width of 5.70 meters, which, according to specialists, does not represent a danger because it has an appropriate measure for vehicular traffic. In addition, it is in adequate traffic conditions.”indicates the pronouncement.
He also pointed out that the sector has the preventive warning signs for curves and reverse curves at the entrances to the accident area, such as timely warning of prevention.
“We encourage drivers to respect road safety signs, speed limits, and slow down for safe traffic in rainy conditionsin order to avoid similar unfortunate events”he remarked.
The MTC also expressed its deep regret for the unfortunate loss of human lives in the traffic accident that occurred on February 9. “We express our deep sorrow for the unfortunate loss of human lives as a result of this incident and we extend our condolences to the families of the victims”he indicated.
